Massive Sports Dome and Entertainment Complex Coming to Jackson, NJ

4/15/19 - By Liz Alterman

Athletes, sports fans, and gaming enthusiasts will soon have a state-of-the-art facility where all their interests come together in one location in Jackson, NJ.

Already a popular destination thanks to Six Flags Great Adventure and Hurricane Harbor, the Ocean County township will be home to Adventure Crossing USA, a massive sports dome and entertainment center, which will include indoor and outdoor multi-sport turf fields; hard courts for basketball, volleyball, and futsal; and a baseball and softball training facility; along with a sprawling, Jersey Shore–themed arcade, indoor go-kart racing, a multi-level laser tag experience, and much more.

An overview of what the completed project is expected to look like.

The $500 million project is the vision of developer Vito Cardinale, whose company Cardinale Enterprises built the nearby retail outlet haven, Jackson Crossing. Located along Monmouth Road, Adventure Crossing USA will span almost 300 acres between Route 195 and Hurricane Harbor. In addition to the sports facilities, Adventure Crossing USA will also include as many as eight restaurants and two hotels, a Hilton Garden Inn and a SpringHill Suites by Marriott.

Having everything in one convenient spot may sound like music to the ears of parents and siblings who often find themselves spending weekends watching games and looking for alternate activities between matches. Keeping busy and putting an end to the "I'm bored!"s that often accompany travel sports won't be a problem with all the options Adventure Crossing will offer.

One of the biggest domes in the Northeast, the inflatable dome is expected to be 89 feet tall, 400 feet long and 300 feet wide. The sports bubble, bound to be a tournament destination, will be unique in that it's connected to traditional building that grants spectators a great view from the mezzanine level.

As the developer noted when speaking with The Asbury Park Press, families frequently travel hundreds of miles to take their athletes to sporting events in other states. With the opening of this facility, which is easily accessed from the NJ Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway, they can stay close to home and let teams from other states do the driving. A retail space will offer sports-related equipment and accessories.

If you're thinking, "This sounds like an ideal place to host a birthday party or sports banquet!" you're not alone. Cardinale and his team plan to include multiple party rooms with ample space for team meetings, conferences, and awards ceremonies.

Clearing and grading the land began in January, and the first section of the project is expected to be complete by the end of 2020, Cardinale told NJ.com. Future phases will include a a golf facility, an expo center, hockey rinks, and an outdoor stadium for sports like lacrosse, football, and even cricket. A third hotel is also part of the long-term plan.

Cardinale told NJ.com that he'd been in talks with National Football League and National Basketball Association about hosting year-round sports camps. The developer hopes the facility will provide a fun destination for the whole family.
